After engaging in a tough battle for nearly two laps, Majeski overtook leader Christian Eckes on lap 145 of 200 to claim the lead for the first time in the race. He went on to lead the final 55 laps and secured a 4.129-second victory over Eckes, securing his first win of the 2024 season.
A year ago, Majeski dominated the short track race by leading 179 of 200 laps. This time, despite having a competitive truck, he was penalized for a restart violation in Stage 2 and had to fight his way back up to third position for the final stage.
This win marks Majeski’s fourth career victory. Earlier in the race, he had already secured a spot in the playoffs based on points.
“This was a significant win,” Majeski commented. “I made a slight mistake, and there was a close call on that restart. I had to push myself harder to make up for it. When a driver makes a mistake, they push themselves to compensate for it.
“It’s been a rollercoaster year. We’ve had the speed to win, but haven’t been able to put it all together. I’m extremely proud of this team.”
Following the race, Corey Heim and Eckes had a heated discussion on pit road regarding an incident during the race that resulted in Heim getting a flat tire.
Grant Enfinger finished third, Tyler Ankrum fourth, and Layne Riggs completed the top five. Both Enfinger and Ankrum secured playoff spots based on points.
The top 10 was rounded out by Sammy Smith, Luke Fenhaus, Rajah Caruth, Dean Thompson, and Nick Sanchez.
Stage 1
Eckes passed Enfinger with four laps to go and secured the Stage 1 win by holding him off by 0.526 seconds. Heim finished third, Ankrum fourth, and Caruth fifth.
Stage 2
Eckes won Stage 2, beating Heim by 2.175 seconds. Majeski finished third, Matt Crafton fourth, and Ankrum fifth. Heim faced a flat tire during this stage, causing a caution.
Stage 3
After the break between Stages 2 and 3, Eckes led the trucks off pit road and resumed the race with Majeski overtaking him on lap 145. Majeski reported a vibration in his truck with 45 laps to go, but he maintained his lead over Eckes. He eventually won the race with a comfortable lead.
