The Dodgers have announced that right-handed pitcher Tyler Glasnow has been placed on the injured list due to right elbow tendinitis. In a corresponding move, Justin Wrobleski has been recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
This announcement was made just before the start of Friday’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.
Manager Dave Roberts revealed in an interview on MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM that several pitchers were dealing with physical issues, hinting at an impending IL placement.
This is Glasnow’s second IL stint this year. He has a record of 9-6 with a 3.49 ERA in 22 starts. He had previously missed time in July with a back problem but had returned to make four starts. He was slated to start Saturday’s game, with Clayton Kershaw set for Sunday.
Bobby Miller has been added to the taxi squad for the weekend series in case an injury replacement is needed. He was pulled from his Triple-A start on Thursday.
It is likely that Miller will step in for Glasnow in the rotation, starting on Saturday or for a longer period. Juan Toribio from MLB.com has confirmed the decision.
Miller, 25, has a record of 1-2 with an 8.07 ERA this season. He faced a shoulder injury earlier in the season and struggled upon his return. After dealing with an adductor strain, he returned to Oklahoma City and pitched on August 9, allowing three runs in 4.1 innings against the Round Rock Express.
The Dodgers will need to make another roster move on Saturday to accommodate Miller’s return.
Glasnow previously underwent Tommy John surgery due to a right elbow injury, limiting him to 16 starts from 2021-2022 with the Tampa Bay Rays.
