Description
The Head Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach position is a full-time position responsible to the Director, Intercollegiate Athletics. This individual must possess proven leadership abilities in planning, organizing, and administering a tennis program and maintaining a high degree of academic and athletic excellence within the program.
Essential Functions and Duties
Primary Responsibilities
- Organizing, coaching, managing, and promoting all aspects of the tennis program, including facilities, competition, practice schedule, budgeting, and team operations.
- Recruiting and retaining student-athletes for the sport of tennis who are a fit for the institution and meet the institution’s standards and qualifications.
- Creating an environment and plan for the academic success of the team by providing academic support and counseling to the student-athletes.
- Assisting as needed in the student athlete drug education, counseling and testing programs.
- Projecting and promoting an inclusive education with the highest standards where student-athletes are empowered to lead lives of personal significance and professional success as global citizens.
- Identifying, hiring, training, and evaluating assistant coaches, including part-time and volunteer staff; ensuring that assistant coaches adhere to all departmental, institutional, conference, and NJCAA guidelines.
- Administering community service and engagement programs with student-athletes, coaches, and staff.
- Acting as an ambassador of the institution; conducting oneself in a positive manner and heightening the awareness of the institution to all of its constituents.
- May be required to teach two courses as part of this contract. Any courses above the two required courses will be compensated at regular adjunct salary.
- Representing the athletic department to the college’s internal and external constituencies.
- Other duties as needed or as assigned by the Director, Intercollegiate Athletics.

Qualifications
Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
Required Experience: Three years of direct experience, or three years of related experience.
Preferred Education: Master’s Degree in a related field
