UFC 311 is just over a month away.
The first pay-per-view event of the year, UFC 311, will take place on Jan. 18 at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, Calif. Featuring a lightweight title fight between Islam Makhachev and Arman Tsarukyan, as well as a bantamweight title fight between Merab Dvalishvili and Umar Nurmagomedov, this event is set to kick off 2025 in a big way. The UFC recently revealed the official fight poster for the event.
Makhachev has already defended his lightweight title three times and has the opportunity to break the record for most lightweight title defenses at UFC 311. He currently shares this record with B.J. Penn, Benson Henderson, and Khabib Nurmagomedov. If he emerges victorious, Makhachev is considering moving up to 170 pounds to pursue a second UFC title.
However, Tsarukyan, the 28-year-old No. 1 contender, may have different plans. Although he was defeated by Makhachev in his short notice UFC debut in 2019, Tsarukyan has since compiled a 9-1 record in the promotion, with notable wins over Charles Oliveira and Beneil Dariush.
The co-main event is equally thrilling, with Dvalishvili making his first title defense against the highly regarded Umar Nurmagomedov, who is considered by many to be the best bantamweight in the world. Tensions are already running high between the two fighters and are expected to escalate as the fight approaches.
