Exciting news for all fight fans: a break from watching MMA fights in the UFC Apex is on the horizon.
After this year’s season of Dana White’s Contender Series and a few final UFC Fight Nights in November, the UFC Apex will be undergoing renovations and will be closed until mid-2025. White confirmed these plans in a recent interview with TNT Sports.
“The Apex is going through renovations,” he stated. “We are expanding the Apex to make it bigger and better. We are investing $25 million in expanding the venue, adding hospitality areas, more bathrooms, and increasing seating capacity. It will be a significant expansion.”
The small size and lackluster atmosphere have been major complaints from fans about the Apex. If the renovations transform it into a venue that can accommodate over 1000 people with a better vibe and affordable tickets for regular fans, the criticisms towards the UFC for overusing the venue may decrease.
Regardless of the changes, White hinted at more UFC Fight Night events taking place across the country.
“We won’t completely abandon the Apex,” White assured. “It has been incredibly beneficial for us. However, we will be hosting Fight Nights in other locations more frequently.”
Hosting Fight Nights in various cities means the UFC will need to secure shows that can sell tickets. This translates to better fight cards, which ultimately leads to happier fans. November can’t arrive soon enough!
