In 2024, the UFC witnessed a multitude of submission finishes, but a select few truly shined. The fight promotion recently unveiled their nominees for the 2024 Submission of the Year award.
Among the nominees are lightweight champion Islam Makhachev, recognized for his fifth-round submission victory over Dustin Poirier at UFC 302. Middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis earned a nomination for his submission win over former titleholder Israel Adesanya at UFC 305. Kayla Harrison’s rear-naked choke finish of former champion Holly Holm at UFC 300 landed her a spot as a nominee. Rounding out the list is Paddy Pimblett, who secured a first-round finish over King Green at UFC 304.
