“The Miracle” is proud of his performance.
Lerone Murphy, soon to be ranked No. 8 in the UFC Featherweight division, secured the biggest win of his career by defeating former interim title challenger Josh Emmett via unanimous decision at UFC Vegas 105 last weekend (Sat., April 5, 2025) inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
While it was a huge win for Murphy, it was a pretty ho-hum fight that not many will be talking about, and most have likely already forgotten.
Still, “The Miracle” took pride in his performance against the knockout specialist.
“From my part, I think it’s a clean performance. I stuck to the game plan and did exactly what I needed to do,” Murphy told Ariel Helwani today. “It’s like people wanted me to stand in the pocket with Josh Emmett and trade. Mate, I couldn’t even text my mum without seeing a video of Josh Emmett KOing somebody. So, what do you expect me to do?”
“It was a clean performance. I landed clean strikes and had him hurt a number of times,” Murphy added. “Even watching it back, I definitely think I won four rounds to one, and he didn’t land anything clean—all of his shots were on my gloves. I defended very well, and my defense was A1.”
Murphy did what was necessary against Emmett, who last time out sent Bryce Mitchell to another dimension (and he might still be there). Yet, despite the win, “The Miracle” gained little beyond a rankings bump and another name on his resume—perhaps all he was after.
For his next move, Murphy called out Brian Ortega. It’s a logical matchup, but whether it happens remains uncertain.
