Department: Athletics, Men’s Tennis-OPS

Compensation: $30.71 Hourly

This position will be responsible for all inventory items of the Men’s Tennis Team at the University of North Florida such as tennis balls, tennis rackets, tennis shoes, tennis grips, tennis clothes, and tennis strings. This individual will need to keep an accurate record of all inventory items and purchase replacement items when the inventory decreases.

This position will be responsible for collecting all invoices of purchased/ordered goods and be responsible for ensuring that they are paid in full. This includes knowledge of the Workday system at the University of North Florida, the Wilson B2b portal, the Under Armour retail web service, and the ITA Tennis resources page for tracking future expenses and future invoices.

This position is responsible for organizing all schedules for a smooth day-to-day operation while also promoting a high-level competition schedule with minimal scheduling conflict. The candidate will need to assist in organizing class schedules for everyone on the men’s tennis team while allowing time for team practice, individual practices, weight training, and conditioning. The candidate will also need to organize all these schedules in a cohesive way that enables the men’s tennis team to play a competitive tennis schedule that will be tracked through ARMS Software. Once the schedule is created, the candidate will need to monitor the success of everyone on the men’s tennis team by analyzing current grades and tennis results.

The candidate for this position will be responsible for creating a competition schedule that enables the University of North Florida Men’s Tennis Team to be ranked in the top 50 of the ITA National Rankings by fully understanding the algorithm to be nationally ranked. The formula is defined below:Σ(CountWinPts) / (#OfCountMatches + LossPts)

The candidate must be able to analyze which teams are nationally ranked by tracking weekly rankings and be able to organize them into a schedule that coincides with the above formula. The ITA uses a system of countable wins, where points from your ‘X’ most valuablewins and all your losses are factored into your ranking average. The points awarded for each countable win and loss are determined by the previous unpublished ranking run. Only teams with an interdivisional win receive an unpublished ranking; all other teams are not ranked.This position requires development of current student-athletes through court drilling and match coaching while analyzing progress through the Universal Tennis Rating system. The Universal Tennis Rating System is a global rating system that measures a player’s tennis skill on a 1.00 to 16.50 scale. This system incorporates a formula that considers factors from the last 12 months such as percentage of games won in a match, the opponent’s rating, and the match format. Another software system that must be utilized for similar functions is PlaySight AI Analytics. The candidate will review analytics collected during team practice and team matches to review match analysis, service analysis, groundstroke analysis, and return analysis. The candidate must be able to analyze the data collected for each player and offer specific advice through on court drilling and match coaching on how to improve their Universal Tennis Rating and improve their analysis reports on PlaySight.

Finally, the candidate for this position must be able to use metrics created by the Universal Tennis Rating and Tennis Recruiting to create a database for potential recruits to enroll at the University of North Florida. The candidate will evaluate and record data from tennis players all over the world and advise the Head Coach on which potential players to target and recruit to the University of North Florida.

This position has a reporting requirement because the University believes that responsibility for students, campus activities and/or campus security will make the holder of this position someone members of the University community will see as an authority figure and someone to whom they can seek help. A CSA is not expected to investigate or determine whether a criminal incident actually took place. A CSA ’ s responsibility is a duty to report. All positions designated as CSAs are required to complete an online or in – person training session. The individual must also assure that NCAA, Conference and UNF regulations are followed to the best of their knowledge and any violations thereof are reported to UNF Athletic Compliance.
