Danielle Robinson kicked off 2025 by announcing her retirement from professional basketball, sharing on Instagram:
After 14 incredible years in the WNBA, I’m officially announcing my retirement from basketball. From dreaming about the Houston Comets as a young girl to living my dream in the W, this journey has been truly amazing.
Drafted sixth overall in the 2011 WNBA Draft by the San Antonio Silver Stars, Robinson played for six teams during her WNBA career, earning accolades such as All-WNBA, All-Defensive, and All-Star honors along the way.
On the day of her retirement announcement, Robinson was honored by her alma mater, Oklahoma, for her achievements during her time as a Sooner.
Robinson’s retirement didn’t mean stepping away from the game entirely, as she was named the manager of basketball integration and scout support for the Los Angeles Sparks. In this role, she will work on optimizing team and individual performances through data, technology, and analytics.
Robinson expressed her excitement about this new opportunity, stating:
Joining the Sparks in this unique role is such an exciting opportunity for me….As I close the chapter on my playing career, it’s only natural that the next step in my journey involves the game I love. I can’t wait to collaborate with our staff and players to bring out the best in everyone and help the organization win.
