Who is ready for week three of Unrivaled?
Things will begin with Rose playing against Phantom (7:15 p.m. ET), and then the marquee matchup will be battle of the unbeatens, with the Lunar Owls facing the Laces (8:15 p.m. ET). Both games will be broadcast on TNT.
Will Rose or Phantom get back in the win column?
Rose is stacked with talent, with Angel Reese, Kahleah Copper, Chelsea Gray and Brittney Sykes, but they’ve only earned one win in the four games they’ve played. They’ve struggled to score consistently, averaging 69.5 points per game as a team.
For Rose to beat Phantom, Reese will have to play very well, winning those rebounds over the likes of Brittney Griner.
Copper also will have to stay aggressive and continue attacking the basket. She’s averaging a team-high 13.8 points per game. For Phantom, they’ll want to establish Griner early and give Satou Sabally the ball as much as possible. She’s averaging 18.3 points per game, making her the sixth-best scorer in the league.
Similar to Rose, Phantom also is 1-3, so one of these teams will begin trending upward while the other will go in the opposite direction.
Who will remain undefeated in Unrivaled?
Laces might not have the biggest names on their roster, but they are well-balanced—and their chemistry is unmatched.
Kayla McBride and Tiffany Hayes are red-hot, averaging a combined 45.5 points per game. With Stefanie Dolson having plenty of experience in 3×3 from her Olympic performance in 2020, she has been a perfect center to fit right in with this team.
Lunar Owls present a great test for the Laces as they are also 4-0 and have a stacked roster featuring the league’s leading scorer, Napheesa Collier, along with guards Skylar Diggins-Smith and Allisha Gray.
This matchup will come down to which guard duo can outshine the other and how Collier does against the forwards the Laces will throw at her. If she’s able to return after missing Monday’s game, one of those defenders will be Alyssa Thomas.
With both teams being the cream of the crop in Unrivaled, expect this game to be a tightly-contested matchup, making for an exciting final quarter where one team will have to outexecute the other to win.
