Antonio Vargas emerged victorious over Winston Guerrero in the main event of the World Boxing Association (WBA) KO Drugs at the Orlando Convention, claiming the interim bantamweight belt at the Caribe Royale Hotel.
The 28-year-old American secured his win in the tenth round after a hard-fought battle for the black and gold belt.
Despite an impressive start where he knocked down his Nicaraguan opponent in the first round, Vargas faced challenges in the second round when he himself hit the canvas. Nevertheless, he managed to bounce back and gradually gain momentum, eventually overpowering Guerrero and leading to the referee stopping the fight towards the end.
Following his victory, Vargas became the standout star of the event, boasting a record of 19 wins, 1 loss, and 11 knockouts, while Guerrero suffered his first defeat and now holds a record of 22 wins, 1 loss, and 13 knockouts.
