The 2024 Varsity Netball competition kicked off with an exciting start as reigning champions UP-Tuks secured a dominant 95-9 victory over TUT in the Tshwane derby, televised at the Wits Sports Hall in Johannesburg, Gauteng, on Sunday, 1 September 2024.
UP-Tuks took control of the game early on and continued their dominance throughout, leading 55-7 at halftime. Their stellar performance left TUT with no chance to get back into the match, resulting in a bitter defeat for their Pretoria counterparts.
The day’s action began with Wits Netball facing off against UFS Kovsies Netball, resulting in a 78-33 victory for the visitors, while UJ Netball defeated Maties Netball 46-38 in a closely contested match.
The final match of the day saw NWU Netball dominating Madibaz Netball with a comprehensive 85-49 win, showcasing their command right from the start of the game.
