During the Brazilian Grand Prix, Scuderia Ferrari’s Spanish driver Carlos Sainz was investigated for a potential infringement, with the race stewards now revealing the outcome of the incident.

Following the incident, there was a possibility of Carlos Sainz facing a penalty after the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.

Coming off a victory in Mexico, it was a challenging weekend for the Ferrari driver in Interlagos. Sainz struggled to find his rhythm from the start on Friday.

The track where Ferrari was already penalized saw Sainz having an incident during qualifying, leading to the team having to change the power unit and gearbox. Starting from the pit lane and trying to make a comeback did not result in any points for him. Despite the numerous Safety Cars and a red flag in the Grand Prix, the future Williams driver attempted to recover but spun and crashed into the barriers upon restart, ending his race.

Carlos Sainz was under scrutiny by the race stewards for a dangerous maneuver during the Brazilian GP, which violated Article 33.4 of the sporting regulations.

The decision regarding a potential penalty for Sainz was announced, and the stewards chose to issue a reprimand instead of a sanction. The FIA statement highlighted that Sainz signaled his abandonment of the car by removing the steering wheel, even though the team believed the car could continue.

Admitting that he was unaware of the procedures starting, Sainz stated that by removing the steering wheel, he indicated his intention to abandon the car, thus avoiding creating a hazardous situation.
