Fight fans have become accustomed to witnessing one-armed fighters compete in combat sports, but it’s always astounding to see one of these resilient athletes achieve a remarkable victory.
That’s precisely what occurred on Friday night (Dec. 13, 2024) when one-armed fighter, Marney Maxx, delivered a powerful knockout finish against Esteferson da Silva at Shooto Brasil 127 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Despite not competing for nearly three years, Maxx had secured consecutive finishes in early 2022.
Fortunately for the spectators, the one-armed lightweight did not skip a beat. He executed a skillful head kick followed by a solid right hand that rocked da Silva with about 90 seconds remaining in the first round. Maxx unleashed a barrage of strikes against the cage, ultimately dropping his Brazilian opponent twice to secure a memorable victory.

Initially, Maxx didn’t seem to be in peak physical condition for the fight. His “off the couch” physique made this finish even more extraordinary. Additionally, the 10-second sequence not only featured two knockdowns, a head kick, and a flying knee, but Maxx was also throwing punches with his impaired left arm.
It was truly remarkable and adds to the collection of impressive performances we’ve seen from one-armed fighters.
