Jon Jones just can’t escape questions about when he’s going to fight Tom Aspinall.
Jones is in Thailand filming a Russian Ultimate Fighter-style reality show, and while there he also took the opportunity to hold a huge seminar at Bangtao Gym in Phuket.
“Just wrapped up the biggest seminar in Phuket history,” Jones declared on X (formerly Twitter). “Half the crowd flew in from the UK — how wild is that?! Massive shoutout to my guy Tom for all the free promo … couldn’t have done it without you.”
“Seriously though, I’m beyond grateful for this brand new UK following,” he concluded. “You guys showed up with so much love and energy, and I felt every bit of it.”
Jones is undoubtedly one of the greats of mixed martial arts and will always command respect for that. But even at his seminar, the energetic UK fans pushed him on fighting interim champion Aspinall.
“When are you fighting Tom?” one asked him during a Q&A to cheers and whoops from the crowd.
“I was waiting for it,” Jones replied with a laugh before mocking the man’s accent. “When you fighting Tom, mate? Guvna!”
His answer was extremely non-committal as usual, and he blamed the UFC for not being able to share what the plan is — which implies there is a plan, which we are starting to doubt.
“Tom and I have agreed to wait for the UFC to make their announcements. So legally I can’t really talk about it.”

“The UFC, I, and Tom, we all got a lot of stuff happening behind the scenes,” Jones said. They’re one of the biggest organizations in sports, and right now Tom and I have agreed to wait for the UFC to make their announcements in time, so I legally can’t really talk about it.”
This is actually one of the more positive answers to the question Jon has given over the past few months, but keep in mind he gave it in front of hundreds of fans. His answers in private and one-on-one interviews have leaned a lot more towards him being in a state of semi-retirement with no set intention of fighting again.
What do you think, Maniacs? Does this answer give you hope, or are you done with the ‘Will he, won’t he’ saga of Jon Jones fighting Tom Aspinall?
