The Golden State Warriors’ coaching staff will look slightly different at the conclusion of the franchise’s Monday night contest vs. the Brooklyn Nets.

A four-time NBA champion coach is slated to depart for the WNBA after spending 13 years with the Dubs.

“Tonight is Chris DeMarco’s final game as Assistant Coach for the Golden State Warriors,” the organization wrote on X/Twitter. “Wishing you all the best of luck as the new Head Coach of theNew York Liberty.”

The Liberty hired DeMarco to replace Sandy Brondello on Dec. 3, but the 40-year-old still could support Steve Kerr and the Warriors until the deal became official.

Now that DeMarco is fully onboard, he’ll get a chance to help Golden State secure one final victory before taking his talents to a different professional basketball league.

DeMarco became an assistant for the Warriors in 2012, and based on the franchise’s dominance in the mid to late 2010s, it’s safe to say he didn’t disappoint in his role.

The Appleton, Wisconsin native played a pivotal role in the Warriors’ dominant dynasty before, during, and after the Kevin Durant era. Golden State won two titles with Durant and two without, allowing them to bolster their previously lackluster championship resume.

While DeMarco has never served as a head coach, his impressive stint with the Dubs should give the Liberty reason to be optimistic about the future.
