The first UFC pay-per-view event of the year on Jan. 18 in Inglewood, California will be headlined by a lightweight championship rematch. Lightweight champion Islam Makhachev (26-1) will face off against top contender Arman Tsarukyan (22-3) in the featured fight at the Intuit Dome.
The two fighters previously met in July 2019, where it was Tsarukyan’s first time in the octagon. Despite Makhachev having six fights in the organization at that time, he was able to defeat Tsarukyan via unanimous decision. Now, six fights later, Makhachev holds the UFC 155-pound championship title.
Following his loss to Makhachev, Tsarukyan has won nine of his last ten fights, including a recent victory over former champion Charles Oliveira at UFC 300. Get ready for their upcoming rematch at UFC 311 by revisiting Makhachev and Tsarukyan’s first fight.
