Over the almost thirty years of the UFC’s existence, there have been a few unforgettable and surprising upsets inside the octagon.
Recently, the UFC posted a video on their YouTube channel showcasing the fights that shocked the MMA world, including several instances of UFC world title changes.
The video begins with perhaps the most shocking result in UFC history, when Georges St-Pierre defended his welterweight championship against Matt Serra — who had earned his shot after appearing on The Ultimate Fighter reality show. Despite being a huge underdog at nearly +900, Serra became the world champion with a stunning first-round knockout in the main event of UFC 69 in April 2007.
Furthermore, the video also features the remarkable upset where +830 underdog Holly Holm delivered one of the most memorable knockouts in UFC history by defeating Ronda Rousey with a brutal head kick to claim the women’s bantamweight title at UFC 193 in November 2015.
