WBC 63rd Annual Convention Closes » December 4, 2025

Even though there is a WBC World title fight tonight at the Marriott Marquis Queen Park hotel in Bangkok, the host hotel of the 63rd annual WBC convention, the business of the convention has officially ended and the convention itself has therefore come to a close.

The final session of the convention commenced at 9:30 a.m. this morning and involved many topics- kicking off with the female mandatory defenses.

Heavyweight: Champion Claressa Shields is currently in a voluntary state as she has already beaten the #1 contender Danielle Perkins.

Super middle: Unified champion Franchon Dezurn Crews’ #1 contender is fellow unified Champion Shadasia Green. Crews previously jaded Green her only loss to date.

Middle: It will be a rematch to determine the vacant title between Kaye Scott and Olivia Curry who previously fought to a draw for the vacant title. The women’s committee decided that the winner will get a voluntary defense first.

Super welter: Mikaela Mayer Just won the vacant title. #2 Ema Kozin & #3 Femke Hermans will be ordered to fight a final eliminator to become the mandatory challenger.

Welter: Lauren Price is the champ and there is no mandatory due at this time.

Super light: Katie Taylor is Champion Emeritus while she takes time to determine her future in boxing. The vacant title will be determined by a fight between #1 Sandy Ryan and #3 Karla Zamora.

Light: Caroline Dubois has no mandatory at this time. #3 Jessica Camara and# Estelle Mosley will square off to determine the mandatory challenger.

Super feather: The vacant title will be determined between number #1 Delfine Person and #2 Caroline Veyre.

Feather Champion Tiara Brown has no mandatory challenge at the moment. #3 Magali Rodriguez and #5 Sarah Mahfoud will be ordered to fight for the mandatory position.

Super bantam: Ellie Scotney has no mandatory at this moment. #1 Yamileth Mercado and #4 Jelena Mrdjenovich Will be ordered to determine the mandatory challenger.

Bantam: Champion Cherneka Johnson and champion in recess Dina Thorslund are looking to settle the score of who the true Champion is now that Thorslund appears to be returning to the ring.

Super fly: Adelaida Ruiz and interim champion Ginny Fuchs are looking to unify with each other.

Fly: Undisputed champion Gabriela Fundora has no mandatory at the moment. #1 Gabriela Sanchez and #5 Tamara DeMarco Will meet to determine the mandatory.

Light fly: Lourdes Juarez has no mandatory at the moment. # 2 Gabriela Celeste Alaniz and # 3 Maria Bautista will meet in a final eliminator to determine the new mandatory.

Straw Yokosta Valle will defend against Yadira Bustillos on the December 19th Jake Paul- Anthony Joshua card. Then she has expressed the desire to face WBA/WBO champion Sarah Bormann. Waiting in the wings is interim champion Umi Ishikawa who is recovering from a second hand surgery.

Atom: Champion Camila Zamorano is the youngest world champion in all of boxing- male or female, at age 17. She currently has no mandatory, but #1 Sumire Yamanaka and #2 Eri Matsuda will match up to determine that mandatory challenger.

In other discussions:

The former CISBB (Commonwealth of Independant States and Black Sea Boxing Bureau) has become the WBC Eurasia, with Gafur Rahimov as president.

Xochitl Lagarda, PhD. discussed her passion project- WBC University. Her goal is to make the WBC University the go to reference for boxing education. The new director of outreach is Christian Manzur, with Victor Silva as the new liaison to the central offices.

There have been 50 WBC Talks and five master classes with an average of 2,500 to 3,000 views from 30 countries.

WBC University has a quarterly magazine with one special edition dedicated to the female Summit 2025.

There is also an alliance between WBC University and BoxMed.

The WBC is extremely proud to announce that they’re super welterweight champion- Sebastian Fundora has been accepted to Harvard University.

Charlie Hall, who has been a WBC ambassador for their anti-bullying and mental health campaign, has been chosen to present the family of recently passed Ricky Hatton with a commemorative plaque. Afflicted with autism, Hall himself was once a victim of bullying during his childhood and had gone through such mental turmoil, that he had considered taking his own life at just 8 years old.
