The WNBA is back in session, and the New York Liberty will take on the Las Vegas Aces in their second championship rematch of the 2024 season.
The two teams met in June before the Olympic break, and the Liberty escaped with a 90-82 win behind a season-high 34 points from Jonquel Jones.
The game will feature six Olympic champions, including Chelsea Gray, A’ja Wilson, Jackie Young, and Kelsey Plum from the Aces, plus New York’s Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu. Liberty coach Sandy Brondello also won bronze with Australia.
New York remains atop the league standings and hopes to get back to the finals and avenge its 2023 loss. Las Vegas continues to find its stride in hopes of winning a third straight WNBA championship in October.
The two teams will meet again twice more this season, but this is the final game played in Las Vegas. Both the Liberty and Aces are hoping to start off strong in the season’s return.
