The 2024 Summer League Sixers have wrapped up their schedule with Sunday evening’s game against the Boston Celtics. Now, the team’s young players will focus on individual training to prepare for the upcoming training camp. Among the talented players on the roster, guard Jared McCain, the No. 16 overall pick in the NBA Draft, second-year wing Ricky Council, and center Adem Bona stood out the most.
After competing in eight games in Salt Lake City and Las Vegas, let’s take a closer look at what we learned about McCain, Council, and Bona.
Jared McCain
McCain faced challenges during the Summer League, especially during the games in Las Vegas, although he finished on a strong note.

• McCain’s size and athleticism make him a target for opposing offenses. While he has shown improvements defensively, he still has a long way to go.
• McCain lacks burst and struggles to create opportunities for himself. He may not be ready to take on a primary ball-handling role in the near future.
Ricky Council IV
Council started strong in Utah, showcasing his three-point shooting abilities. Despite some challenges along the way, his overall performance was impressive.
The positives:
• Council is working on improving his three-point shot and has shown confidence in his shooting abilities.
• Council excels at getting to the free-throw line and has a knack for drawing fouls. His aggressive playmaking on defense has also been a highlight.
The negatives:
• Council needs to focus on making better decisions on the court and harnessing his energy more effectively.
Adem Bona
Bona has garnered excitement for his game, but there are also areas of concern that have been highlighted recently.
The positives:
• Bona’s work ethic is commendable, and he is relentless on both ends of the floor. His athleticism and length make him effective in rebounding and shot-blocking.
• Bona’s leaping ability and catch radius make him a threat as a lob finisher.
The negatives:
• Bona lacks offensive versatility beyond finishing at the rim. His poor shooting and tendency to foul excessively are areas of concern.
• Bona’s raw talent suggests he is a development project and may need time to reach his potential. The team may need to consider adding depth at the center position to support his growth.
