Tempest Rising quickly made its way onto the radars of many strategy enthusiasts following its announcement, aiming to bring back into the spotlight the venerated Command and Conquer-style formula. Since that’s a series primarily found on PC, console users might be wondering when it will be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Developed using Unreal Engine 5, Tempest Rising launches with two factions – the versatile Global Defense Force and hardy Tempest Dynasty –, with a third set to become available post-launch. You can master their devastating arsenals and distinct tactics in both dedicated single-player campaigns and multiplayer.

Although its PC version set to launch in advanced access on April 17, 2025, Tempest Rising is not currently releasing on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.

A FAQ article dating from 2022 delves further into the matter, with the developer noting the following: “Currently, we only plan for a PC release.”
It’s difficult to say whether or not plans might have changed internally since the article went up but, based on what’s been shared thus far, a Tempest Rising console version doesn’t seem to be on the cards.
Should that not be the case, we’ll certainly hear from developer Slipgate Ironworks and co-publishers 3D Realms and Knight’s Peak.
Although the game is heavily inspired by a classic PC RTS, more and more strategy games have begun making the jump to console. Perhaps, following a successful launch, the same might apply to Tempest Rising.
