The Phoenix Mercury will induct Diana Taurasi and her No. 3 jersey into the Mercury Ring of Honor on Aug. 16.
The team will honor Taurasi’s 20-year run with the organization that began when she was drafted first overall in 2004. Taurasi was key in all three WNBA championships in 2007, 2009 and 2014. She retired in February 2025 as the WNBA’s all-time leading scorer.
Taurasi is the sixth person to be honored by the Mercury, joining former coach and general manager Cheryl Miller, Jennifer Gillom, Bridget Pettis, Penny Taylor and Michele Timms.
“For two decades, Diana set the standard for what it means to win, compete and lead at the highest level, doing it in a way that was uniquely hers,” Mercury and Suns owner Mat Ishbia said in a release. “We look forward to celebrating her legendary career as we raise her name and number to the rafters.”
Mercury legends, former teammates, coaches and family will be in attendance for the ceremony during the Mercury’s game against the Portland Fire.
