Fans of the WNBA were surprised to see Caitlin Clark’s absence from the lineup for the 2024 WNBA All-Star 3-point contest. The rookie from the Fever revealed on Friday that she was asked to participate but opted to skip it in order to focus on the All-Star Game and get some much-needed rest.
“I’ve been playing basketball non-stop for a year,” Clark explained. “It’s not easy to just step up and shoot from a rack. It’s a new experience for me and I haven’t had much time to practice. My priority has been helping my team win games and taking this break. There will be other opportunities for me to showcase my skills in the future.”

This year has been a challenging one for Clark. After concluding her college career at Iowa in April, where she set records as the all-time leading scorer in NCAA Div. I history and led her team to the NCAA title game, Clark was selected as the top pick in the WNBA draft by the Fever on April 15 and made her professional debut in May.
“I need a break and some personal time to focus on what makes me happy,” Clark noted. “It can be tough at times given my position, but I believe it’s important for my overall well-being.”
