DeMar DeRozan had several offers from NBA teams during free agency over the summer, but ultimately chose to join Sacramento.
“Philly was definitely an option,” DeRozan told Paul George on Podcast P With Paul George. “Lakers, Clippers, and the Heat were also options that I was considering.”
DeRozan played for the Bulls for the past three seasons, where he maintained impressive stats despite being 35 years old.
It took DeRozan some time to sign with the Kings because he wanted to be sure it was the right decision.
One of the major factors that influenced his decision was the strong team culture being cultivated in Sacramento.
“I was seeking an opportunity to win at a high level wherever that may be,” DeRozan stated. “When Sacramento showed genuine interest and I assessed the team with great players and a great coach, I felt like it was a good fit.”
DeRozan will be playing alongside players like De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis, aiming to make a positive impact on the team’s offense.
He believes he can bring leadership and his skills will help elevate the team to the next level.
