The BIG3 basketball league and co-founder Ice Cube won’t be making an aggressive play to sign Chicago Sky star Angel Reese like it did last year for Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark.
Cube told TMZ Sports that BIG3 received assurances from corporate sponsors justifying a $5 million offer for Clark. Those same parties “didn’t tell us the same thing about Angel Reese.”
“I don’t think we can make that same offer because it won’t have the same impact to the league,” the famed rapper said.
Clark resisted BIG3’s overtures. While her WNBA contract paid her just $76,535 as a rookie in 2024, Sportico’s Kurt Badenhausen estimated she received around $11 million from endorsements.
Reese has also alluded to how her WNBA earnings are only a small fraction of what she makes.
The second-year forward was among the stars who signed on for the inaugural season of Unrivaled, the three-on-three league co-founded by the Minnesota Lynx’s Napheesa Collier and New York Liberty’s Breanna Stewart. As a member of league champion Rose BC, she received a $50,000 bonus on top of her standard Unrivaled deal.
Reese’s popularity remains as high as ever. Just this month, Reebok unveiled her first signature sneaker and she was revealed as the cover star for NBA 2K26’s “WNBA Edition.”
The 23-year-old has improved on the court as well. She’s averaging 13.8 points on 44.8 percent shooting along with 12.5 rebounds through 22 games with Chicago.
