Former Iowa women’s basketball star Kate Martin will return to play in the upcoming season of the 3-on-3 basketball league Unrivaled.
Martin, a member of the WNBA’s Golden State Valkyries, played in the inaugural season of Unrivaled when it began this past January. She joins women’s basketball stars Paige Bueckers and Jackie Young as members of the 2026 season, according to a series of social media posts beginning Sept. 22.
A member of the Iowa women’s basketball team from 2018 to 2024, Martin played in six games for Unrivaled in 2025 as a member of the Laces and averaged 8.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals per contest. Rosters and team schedules for the 2026 season are not yet available.
What is Unrivaled?

Unrivaled, a 3-on-3 basketball league founded by WNBA All-Stars Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier in 2024.
Eight teams play an eight-week season from January to March in Miami, and players earn an average salary of $222,222 (compared to the WNBA’s reported average salary of $119,590).
Unlike FIBA or Olympic three-on-three basketball, Unrivaled games are played on a full court, with baskets at each end. Games will be played in four seven-minute quarters.
The league averaged 221,000 viewers on TNT and truTV during its first season, with the league’s championship featuring Rose BC’s victory over Vinyl BC drawing 364,000 viewers.
