The Los Angeles Dodgers recently welcomed Blake Snell to the team after finalizing a five-year, $182 million contract. While the Dodgers have secured an ace for their starting rotation, there are still several fan-favorite free agents available. One notable player who played a critical role in the Dodgers’ postseason success and is currently a free agent is outfielder Teoscar Hernández.
Hernández turned down the Dodgers’ qualifying offer of $21.05 million for the 2025 season. General manager Brandon Gomes mentioned that the team will engage in discussions with Hernández during the off-season, but no developments have occurred yet.

MLB insider Bob Nightengale shared insights on Hernández’s potential return to the Dodgers in a conversation with Dodgers Nation’s Doug McKain.
“Yeah, they’re probably giving him some space to explore his options and see if there are any compelling offers,” Nightengale commented. “Typically, the Dodgers set a benchmark and say, ‘If you accept this offer, we’ll proceed. Otherwise, we’ll look elsewhere.'”
“I believe Teoscar Hernández will come back. He enjoyed his time with the Dodgers, and his teammates praised him during the postseason and parade. So, I think Teoscar Hernández will return, and the team will build from there. However, if he decides not to return, they have other options lined up as there is a depth of outfielders available,” Nightengale added.
In his first season with the Dodgers, Hernández had a standout performance. In 2024, he earned an All-Star title, won the Home Run Derby, smashed 33 home runs, and secured a World Series ring.
He quickly endeared himself to fans and embraced the Dodgers’ team culture. Hernández consistently expressed his desire to continue playing for the Dodgers throughout the season.
During the World Series parade at Chavez Ravine, Hernández delivered an emotional and appreciative speech to the fans.
“You have turned my dream into reality. Thank you for making me a World Champion,” Hernández expressed tearfully. “I am immensely grateful for everything this organization and these fans have given me. When I show emotions like this, it truly reflects how I feel. I feel blessed to be a part of this.”
Both talent and team camaraderie play integral roles in championship teams, and Hernández embodies both qualities.
