The Dallas Wings secured a brighter future after winning the WNBA draft lottery, giving them the opportunity to draft UConn standout Paige Bueckers as the No. 1 pick.
Bueckers, the consensus top pick, has faced injury setbacks during her time at UConn but is currently healthy and leading UConn to an undefeated start to the season.
Other top prospects for the draft include Kiki Iriafen from USC, Olivia Miles from Notre Dame, and Lauren Betts from UCLA.
The Wings had a 22.7% chance of winning the lottery.
The Phoenix Mercury, who traded last year’s first-round pick for Kahleah Copper, will make their selections at 12th and 19th overall.
The Los Angeles Sparks, with a 44% chance at the top pick, will draft second. The Chicago Sky will pick third, as they were not eligible for the No. 1 pick due to a previous trade with Dallas.
Washington will make the fourth pick, followed by the expansion team Golden State Valkyries at fifth. The remaining picks in the first round will go to Washington, New York, Indiana, Seattle, Chicago, Minnesota, and Phoenix.
The Las Vegas Aces’ first-round pick was revoked due to league violations.
The Indiana Fever, winners of the past two draft lotteries, selected Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark as the last two Rookie of the Year winners.
The 2025 WNBA draft is set for April 14.
