Tulsa, OK – It was a historic day the Michael D Case Tennis Center, seeing first-time winners, and dominant performances by Oliver Tarvet, a Singles and Doubles Champion at the ITA Men’s All-American Tournament.
Oliver Tarvet is now the first man since 2015 (Thai-son Kwiatkowski, Virginia) to hold the Singles and Doubles trophies.
Oliver’s strong showing would begin in the singles final where he would be named the winner, via walkover, against Texas’ Sebastian Gorzny. Oliver’s singles run also included wins over Adit Sinha (Cornell), Miguel Perez Pena (Georgia), Jonah Braswell (Texas), Corey Craig (Florida State), and Pedro Vives (TCU).
In Doubles, Tarvet and partner Stian Klaassen battled against ITA National Summer Champions Marko Miladinovic and Oskar Brostrom Poulsen from Baylor.
The Doubles final was hotly contested, with both teams trading breaks throughout the first set. It would ultimately come down to a first set tie-breaker in which San Diego prevailed 7-4. The Baylor Bears would not go down easily as they pushed through to capture the second set swiftly at a score of 6-2.
The final third set breaker would find Baylor at an early lead, but slowly tilt towards the way of Tarvet/Klaassen. The San Diego duo clinched the match with an overhead by Tarvet and a 10-5 score. This win would give San Diego their first ever ITA Men’s All-American Double Championship.
