We’re back, people, and so is the flair for the dramatic, the suspense, and the separation in the standings. Despite two teams clearly running away with the league at the moment, there’s much to be discussed with the other 11 squads!

As a reminder, the rankings below are an aggregate of the Winsidr team. We poll our team to vote regularly throughout the regular season on where each team stands. We display each team with its current record and its record since the last edition of our power rankings.

13. Connecticut Sun (2-12) — 0-5 since PR Vol. 2

The Sun’s last win was on June 6 against the Atlanta Dream. The buddy-buddy between Marina Mabrey and Saniya Rivers is fun content, but outside of Mabrey, the team has been unable to find consistent on-court performance. Aneesah Morrow did have a career game against the Phoenix Mercury, though, in Alyssa Thomas’ return to Connecticut. 

12. Chicago Sky (3-10) — 1-5 

Over the last two weeks, the Sky suffered four losses by an average of 21.25 points. Their offense and defense have been nonexistent, and despite flashes from Angel Reese, Ariel Atkins, and Elizabeth Williams, things continue to trend downward for them in 2025. 

11. Dallas Wings (3-12) — 2-3 

Paige Bueckers returned from a concussion, and the difference in this team was immediately felt. They had key wins over the Sun and Valkyries and nearly knocked off the Aces before falling by four. The team is continuing to jell, but you can see the vision. 

10. Los Angeles Sparks (4-10) — 1-4

The good news? The Sparks beat the Aces. The bad news? In their last three games, the Sparks have lost by an average of 23.3 points to the Lynx (twice) and Storm. That’s … not good. They are still looking to get Cameron Brink and Rae Burrell healthy. At least Kelsey Plum continues to play at an All-WNBA level.

9. Washington Mystics (6-8) — 2-2

The Mystics nearly completed a big fourth-quarter comeback against the Atlanta Dream on Friday night, but ultimately lost by one after Brittney Sykes missed the second of three free throws to send the game to overtime. Kiki Iriafen and Sonia Citron continue to impress, and Shakira Austin had a career game in the aforementioned loss to the Dream. Seeing how they utilize their four bigs going forward is going to continue to be a key to their success.  

8. Indiana Fever (6-7) — 2-3

Caitlin Clark is back for the Fever, and if there was any court rust from her injury, it hasn’t shown in her play. In fact, they are going to face the Minnesota Lynx in the Commissioner’s Cup title game. While the Fever have the Storm, Aces, and Lynx coming up, they also get to play the Sparks twice and the Sun once, which should, at worst, allow them to break even over the next two weeks. 

7. Golden State Valkyries (7-6) — 4-1

The Valkyries took down the Aces, Storm, and Fever in the last two weeks, as they continue to impress and look more like a second or third-year team than an expansion team. They play an unselfish style of play without a true superstar. Or, as Teri Fagbënlë put it, a team of sixth women. Whatever you want to call it, it’s working.  

6. Las Vegas Aces (6-7) — 2-4

The Aces continue to struggle, losing five of their last seven games, including three of four as we enter Monday. Depth continues to be an issue for the Aces, as their bench is 12th in the league in scoring (16.1 points per game). The good news for Las Vegas is that it gets the Sun twice and the Mystics once in the next two weeks.

5. Seattle Storm (9-5) — 4-1

Since the last edition of the power rankings, the Storm are 4-1. Gabby Williams has been fantastic for the past two weeks, and Skylar Diggins has been doing Skylar Diggins things. The veterans continue to lead the way for the Storm as they continue to develop No. 2 pick Dominique Malonga at their own pace. Three of their next five games are against the Fever, Dream, and Liberty, which will give us a good sense of how good this team really is. 

4. Atlanta Dream (10-4) — 5-1

The Dream nearly took down the New York Liberty in New York to advance to the Commissioner’s Cup final. While they lost that game, you continue to see the impact that new coach Karl Smesko is having on this Atlanta team that leads the league in three-point attempts per game. The Dream have had an issue allowing games to get too close down the stretch, which is something they need to address. 

3. Phoenix Mercury (11-4) — 5-0

Not only is Kahleah Copper back for the Mercury, but Phoenix is on a five-game winning streak thanks in big part to the play of their unsung rookies. In fact, Phoenix’s bench unit leads all secondary units in scoring.  

2. New York Liberty (10-3) — 2-3

Like the Lynx, the Liberty also suffered their first losses since the last edition of the power rankings. What’s more, they also lost Leonie Fiebich to 2025 EuroBasket play, as well as Jonquel Jones to an injury that is going to keep her out the next 4-to-6 weeks. They haven’t been slowed down much offensively, as their bench players have stepped up. But losing three of their last five games does raise eyebrows. They should remain in the top two until at least July 30, when Minnesota and New York finally square off.

1. Minnesota Lynx (12-1) — 3-1

Since the last edition of the power rankings, the Minnesota Lynx suffered their first loss of the season, as well as seeing their star player, Napheesa Collier, suffer a back injury. It hasn’t mattered much, as they are still one of the top two teams in the league. Diamond Miller has enjoyed a minor resurrection over the last couple of weeks, including scoring 12 in the Lynx win over the Aces.
