Steve Garcia is set to fight Kyle Nelson at UFC Vegas 97 on Sept. 7 at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas. Garcia steps in on short notice to replace Calvin Kattar, who had to pull out of the fight for undisclosed reasons.
Garcia has been on a roll with four straight finishes, including a spectacular win over Seung Woo Choi in July. He holds a 5-2 record in the UFC, with all five wins coming by knockout.
Meanwhile, Nelson is coming off three consecutive wins, with his latest victory being a first-round knockout over Bill Algeo in March. After some initial struggles in the UFC, Nelson has found his rhythm and is on a winning streak.
The Nelson vs. Garcia fight is part of a stacked lineup featuring Gilbert Burns facing Sean Brady in the main event.
