Allisha Gray, an Atlanta Dream All-Star, had an exceptional performance on the opening night of WNBA All-Star weekend on Friday. She made history by winning both the Skills Challenge and 3-Point Contest, becoming the first player to do so.
In the Skills Challenge, Gray finished with a time of 32.1 seconds in the final round, beating out Sophie Cunningham from the Phoenix Mercury. Gray advanced to the finals by posting a time of 31.2 seconds in the first round, securing her spot in the championship round.
After her victory in the Skills Challenge, Gray went on to defeat Jonquel Jones in the 3-Point Contest, scoring 22 points to secure the win. By winning both contests, Gray took home a total of $115,150, which is 62% of her 2024 WNBA salary.
Gray’s performance was impressive, especially considering she is shooting 36% on 3-pointers so far this season. The competition also featured other star players like Stefanie Dolson, Jonquel Jones, Kayla McBride, and Marina Mabrey.
The event also featured a 3×3 Showcase, where Team USA, consisting of players like Dearica Hamby and Rhyne Howard, faced off against a U23 team of college stars. The 3×3 game format was played on a half-court with specific scoring rules.
The evening was captured live on Yahoo Sports’ blog by Cassandra Negley, showcasing the excitement and thrill of the All-Star events.
