Phoenix Mercury guard Kahleah Copper is looking forward to this year’s WNBA All-Star Weekend after working towards it for a long time.
2024 will not be Copper’s first time at the All-Star Game, as she has been an All-Star for four consecutive seasons. While this weekend may not be her greatest achievement, Copper already has a Finals MVP title from her time with the 2021 WNBA Champion Chicago Sky. Additionally, she has played in the All-Star Game before in her home arena back in Chicago in 2022.
However, what makes this year special is that it will be Copper’s first All-Star Weekend as an Olympian. After missing out on the Tokyo Games in 2021, she set her sights on becoming a part of the 2024 Paris Olympic team.
Copper, a native of North Philadelphia, believes in manifesting her goals and speaking them into existence. She keeps visual reminders of her dreams on her refrigerator and is determined to make them a reality.
Joining Team USA for the Olympics, Copper is focused on helping the team secure a historic eighth-straight Olympic gold medal in Paris. She understands the challenge ahead and the importance of team chemistry in achieving success.
Despite the seriousness of the Olympic endeavor, Copper is looking forward to the All-Star Weekend in Phoenix. She, along with her teammates Diana Taurasi and Brittney Griner, will enjoy home-court advantage during the game.
Having recently moved to the Mercury, Copper is impressed by the professionalism and support of the organization. She has excelled on the court, leading Phoenix with a high scoring average and contributing to the team’s success this season.
During All-Star Weekend, Copper plans to engage with the fans and connect with the Phoenix community. She embraces the opportunity to inspire others with her journey from a basketball fan to a WNBA star.
For Copper, the ultimate goal remains winning. She will continue to work hard and push herself until she achieves her dream of holding an Olympic gold medal in Paris.
