Allisha Gray, of the Atlanta Dream, made history on Friday night by winning the WNBA 3-Point Contest and Skills Challenge at WNBA All-Star weekend.
Prior to the WNBA events on Friday night, Allisha Gray had the media laughing with her Disney World plans during the Olympic Break and her humble response to questions about the all-star game MVP. Little did the world know what she was about to accomplish.
At Footprint Center that night, Gray made history winning both the 3-Point Contest and Skills Challenge, becoming the first woman in WNBA history to do so. She joined Becky Hammon and Sabrina Ionescu as the only players to win both contests.
Allisha Gray took home more than 62 percent of her salary
On that memorable night, Gray was all smiles. With the bonus provided by Aflac, she earned nearly 62% of her annual salary of $185,000 as the winner of the events. In an interview, Gray mentioned that she may use the extra earnings to start a business or indulge in some golfing and shopping.
With a total of $5,150 in prize money from both contests, Gray’s success highlights the need for continued investment in women’s basketball to enhance future events.
