The Indiana Fever (8-13) aren’t necessarily on fire, but they’re improving and it’s a joy to see a team that was once making mistakes now moving the ball effectively and scoring. The defense still needs work, but the effort is finally there. The energy in the Fever locker room after the win over the Phoenix Mercury is proof of that.
All-Stars abound
Aliyah Boston, Caitlin Clark, and Kelsey Mitchell have all made the 2024 WNBA All-Star team. Despite having three All-Stars, the Fever are currently in ninth place with eight wins and thirteen losses. After a rough start to the season, the Fever are now playing much better. Indiana will have more players in the All-Star game than some teams with better records. Were the choices for All-Stars unfair?
Clark is a highly marketable player in the WNBA and is living up to the hype as an incredible player. Her stats speak for themselves:
Clark earned her first WNBA All-Star selection after averaging 16.2 points, 6.9 assists, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game. She leads all rookies in various categories and has already set records in her rookie season.
Aliyah Boston is also making waves in the league, earning Eastern Conference Player of the Week and showcasing her skills as one of the best bigs in the WNBA.
And then there’s Kelsey Mitchell…
Mitchell’s milestone
During a recent game, Mitchell made her 500th 3-pointer of her career, joining a select group of players who have achieved this milestone. She is on track to move up on the all-time list of 3-point shooters this season.
Mitchell, with her second All-Star appearance, is solidifying her place in the Hall of Fame. Playing alongside Clark has helped her increase her scoring efficiency and become a threat from beyond the arc.
What’s next for the Fever?
The upcoming homestand will test the capabilities of Indiana’s All-Stars as they face tough opponents over the next few games.
The recent win over the Mercury shows that the Fever are progressing and coming together as a team. Let’s hope they can continue this momentum in their upcoming matches.
