The Chicago Sky has made the decision to fire head coach Teresa Weatherspoon after just one season.
Nadia Rawlinson, Operating Chairman, released a statement regarding the decision:
After careful consideration, the organization has decided to part ways with Head Coach Teresa Weatherspoon. We are grateful for Coach TSpoon’s contributions and the passion she brought to the team. Despite this decision, we appreciate her competitive spirit and dedication to Chicago Sky basketball.
We are committed to finding a new head coach as we aim to remain competitive for playoffs and championships. Teresa Weatherspoon will always be a part of the Skytown family, and we wish her the best in her future endeavors.
The reason for Weatherspoon’s firing remains unknown, causing shockwaves throughout the league. There are allegations that she was difficult to work with.
Rookie player Angel Reese expressed her disappointment on social media:
Angel Reese shared her heartfelt feelings about the impact Teresa Weatherspoon had on her as a coach. She praised Weatherspoon for believing in her and building a strong relationship during a challenging season.

The Sky finished the season with a 13-27 record, missing out on the playoffs. They will now be searching for their third head coach in three seasons.
