The Phoenix Mercury are having a solid start to the season, as they’re currently 5-2 and just won their recent game against the Los Angeles Sparks.

All five starters finished the game scoring in double digits, but it was Satou Sabally who led the way with 24 points and nine rebounds. The Mercury have shown that their star power and depth will help them this season, and that’s what has been leading them to wins.
One player who has been absent from the past two games is Alyssa Thomas, who is dealing with a left calf injury. Thomas is going to be a big part of the Mercury’s success this season, and seeing her deal with an injury now is tough, but hopefully it’s not that serious and she can return soon.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Thomas will be playing anytime soon, as she did not travel with the team to Minnesota for their next game against the Lynx. The Mercury and Lynx recently played against each other on May 30 with Phoenix suffering a 74-71 loss.
The Mercury went into the fourth quarter with the lead, but the Lynx were too much to handle in the end. Thomas did not play in that game, but it was encouraging to see the Mercury fight against one of the best teams in the league.

It’s not certain when Thomas will be back on the floor for the Mercury, and Sabally will have to continue to carry the load while she and Kahleah Copper are sidelined.
