Connecticut Sun guard DiJonai Carrington and Indiana Fever forward NaLyssa Smith have finally addressed the infamous foul involving the WNBA couple from last season.
During a game last year between the Fever and the Sun, Carrington grabbed a rebound and was fouled by Smith. Smith then helped Carrington up off the floor in a way that caught the attention of social media for being more intimate than expected between opponents.
On a recent Instagram Live session, Carrington and Smith, who were former teammates at Baylor, discussed the incident.
“She swears she didn’t do it on purpose. She was like, ‘I was just making sure you didn’t fall.’ Bro, the way that she wrapped them arms around, she damn near interlocked at the front,” Carrington continued.
Carrington challenged Smith to acknowledge her actions, saying, “you dragged it.”
Smith countered, “How did I drag you? I hooked you up.”
Carrington then asked Smith if she helps everyone up like that, to which Smith replied, “We’re not talking about everyone. We’re talking about you … I just wanted to help her up. She goes and sticks her little booty out like that. Now we vibing.”
Both Carrington and Smith acknowledged that they knew exactly what they were doing.
Earlier this season, Carrington was involved in controversies with Smith’s teammate, Caitlin Clark.
Last month, Carrington criticized Clark for alleged flopping and questioned Clark’s stance on social justice issues, urging her to speak up.
“We all see the s–t. We all have a platform. We all have a voice & they all hold weight. Silence is a luxury.”
