The Dallas Wings were blessed by the basketball gods on Sunday as they won the 2025 WNBA Draft Lottery. This means they will have the No. 1 pick in the upcoming 2025 WNBA Draft on April 14, giving them the opportunity to select UConn superstar Paige Bueckers.
Representing the victorious Wings was Maddy Siegrist. The winning lottery combination that secured them the top pick was their own 22.7 percent chance, not the Chicago Sky’s 22.7 percent chance. This pick comes as a result of a previous trade where the Sky acquired Marina Mabrey from the Wings in exchange for the option to swap 2025 first-round picks. Bueckers is expected to bring success to the franchise under the new leadership of general manager Curt Miller, who is looking to establish sustainable success with the team. A new head coach is anticipated to be announced soon.
