WNBA draft: Why wasn’t TCU center Sedona Prince selected? Did offcourt issues hurt?

Former TCU center Sedona Prince was not selected in the three-round WNBA draft on Monday night.

Prince spent two seasons with the Horned Frogs, helping turn TCU from the worst team in the Big 12 to an Elite Eight team in just two seasons. This past season Prince averaged 17.2 points, 9.4 rebounds and 3.0 blocks while being selected first team All-Big 12 and to the All-Defensive team.

However, despite that production, her off-the-court issues likely played a major role in Prince going undrafted.

In August 2024, online content creator Olivia Stabile posted a 10-part video series on TikTok alleging that Prince had pushed her off an ATV and hit her while the couple was on a trip to Tulum, Mexico. Stabile repeated those allegations to ESPNW during an interview in March. Prince denied the allegations in a statement on Aug. 31, 2024.

The Star-Telegram also learned in January 2025 that Prince and another TCU student, an ex-girlfriend, separately filed reports with police alleging intimate partner violence. No charges were filed in either incident.

Prince also endured a plethora of injuries during her time at Texas, Oregon and TCU including a broken finger, broken leg and a torn elbow ligament.

After thinking her career was over, Prince decided to give basketball one more go under TCU head coach Mark Campbell, who previously coached her at Oregon.

Prince transferred to TCU and averaged 19.7 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.9 blocks during the 2023-24 season as TCU won 21 games.

Along with her ability to control the paint defensively, Prince showcased her skill as a shooter in the mid-range and post area during her time in Fort Worth. She also had a strong connection with Hailey Van Lith in the pick and roll. Van Lith was picked in the first round by the Chicago Sky.

Despite her skillset and 6-foot-7 frame, the off the court concerns were too much to overlook for WNBA teams on draft night. Now Prince will have to hope for another chance to make the WNBA as a free agent or play overseas if she wants to continue her professional basketball career.
