OK, this pick isn’t really that under the radar, but it could pay dividends for the Valkyries if Natalie Nakase can get the most out of Martin. She has tremendous upside and fits Nakase’s desire to be “a shooter,” including a solid ability to shoot those draw-kick corner 3-point buckets that Las Vegas liked to run.
The larger question will be Martin’s defensive developmental plan. If the Valkyries plan to win a championship within the first five years, as the franchise has stated, Martin will need to be off and running reasonably quickly.
