WNBA legend Sue Bird is sharing her thoughts on Chicago Sky star Angel Reese selling out her first signature shoe with Reebok, and she has nothing but praise for the young superstar. During an episode of her podcast, the 13x All-Star spoke about Reese’s accomplishment and gave the 23-year-old her props for doing something spectacular.

WNBA Legend Has A Specific Message For Angel Reese After Learning Her Signature Shoe Sells Out

“For my A Touch More this week, I’m going to talk Reebok and how they dropped Angel Reese’s signature shoe, the Angel Reese 1,” Bird said on an episode of the “A Touch More” podcast. “They dropped it in three colorways. It sold out in seconds, as women’s sports everything does. But just wanted to say congrats to Angel Reese. That’s huge. The more signature shoes in the market, the better. So, congratulations to her.”

Bird’s comments come just 10 days after the “Angel Reese 1” sold out on Reebok.com within hours of its launch, a testament to Reese’s massive influence. According to a previous report from The Blast, Reese launched three unique pairs: the Diamond Dust, Mebounds, and Receipts Ready colorways in mid-September, and the support for the product clearly exceeded some people’s expectations.

Reese first announced the release of her signature shoe just before the 2025 WNBA All-Star game, calling the shoe “my style, my story, and my stamp on the game.”

Reese’s shoe features impressive performance technology, including a breathable upper, a TPU stability cup, and the footwear giant’s signature Energy Return System, providing athletes with unparalleled flexibility and stability.

“Reebok and I built something that’s true to who I am, and I hope it pushed others to stand in their power, too,” she said. “At the end of the day, it’s built for basketball — made to move and perform at the highest level.”

Even before the shoe’s official release, Reese showcased a pair on the cover of the NBA 2K26 WNBA edition. She reflected on the special moment in a previous interview, according to a report from The Blast, calling the bold move a “statement.”

“Being on the cover of NBA 2K26 and debuting my first-ever signature shoe with Reebok on that cover, the Angel Reese 1, is more than a milestone; it’s a statement,” the LSU alum said. “It’s about representation and showing young girls they can be confident, bold, and take up space unapologetically. To be cemented in NBA 2K history is a special honor that reflects not only my journey, but also all the veteran WNBA players who have paved the way before me and the growing impact of the league as a whole.”

Angel Reese Has More Colors Of Her Shoe Coming Soon

While the first three colorways of Reese’s signature shoe sold out sooner than expected, fans will have future opportunities to purchase new colorways in the coming weeks. In October, Reebok will launch the purple and black “Charm City” pair, which Reese says honors “my roots and the community of Baltimore that has backed me from day one.”

After that, she’ll release the all-gray “Giving Grace” pair, which also comes with a special message.

“Giving Grace is more than just a shoe name—it’s a reflection of who I am and the journey I’ve walked,” said Reese. “This colorway represents the strength to keep moving when the road is uncertain, the courage to rise after setbacks, and the kindness to extend grace to others as well as yourself. These shoes tell my story, and I hope they inspire others to walk in grace, strength and resilience.”

After learning her shoe was a massive success, Reese shared a special message on Instagram, calling the moment a dream come true. “I can’t even put into words how PROUD I am of this moment, how THANKFUL I am for the journey, and how GRATEFUL I am for every single person who has supported me along the way,” she wrote in the caption.

Several Reese supporters lined the comment section of the post, expressing their excitement over her latest victory, with one saying, “Angel, I think I can speak for the collective here – We are SO incredibly proud of and excited for you! It’s been such a joy to witness your greatness continue to unfold! It’s a blessing for sure.”
