Indiana Fever star guard Caitlin Clark has had a rough second season in the WNBA. Injuries have completely derailed her second year, as she has now missed time due to injury on three separate occasions.

Most recently, Clark was forced to miss Wednesday night’s game against the New York Liberty due to injuring her groin once again.

Clark missed a good chunk of time due to the groin injury before making her return to the court. She played just two games before going back down with the same issue.

To say that Clark’s second WNBA season has been a disappointment would be an understatement. Her numbers are well down from her rookie season and she simply has not been able to stay on the court.

With that being said, one WNBA legend has spoken out about the nagging groin injury that Clark has been dealing with lately.

Lisa Leslie revealed that she had the same injury during her career. She also shared more details about how difficult the injury is to manage.

“I really feel for Caitlin Clark because I had that injury in 2006,” Leslie said. “I was heavily taped around my thigh, my glute, just to make sure there was enough pressure to hold that groin.”

She continued on to reveal more about the management of the injury and why it can be so difficult to bounce back from quickly.

“The hard part is that the groin isn’t just an area you can go, ‘Oh it hurts right here,'” Leslie said. “You feel it deep and you need a lot of deep treatment, whether it’s ice and heat and rest. (Clark) can’t find a lot of rest right now because she’s in season.”

Thankfully for Clark, the WNBA All-Star break has arrived. She will be given quite a few days to rest up for the second half of the season. Hopefully, she will be able to make a recovery and get back to playing at a high level and leading the Fever towards championship contention.

During the 2025 WNBA season thus far, Clark has played in 13 games of the 23 that Indiana has played. She has averaged 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, five rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game, while shooting 36.7 percent from the floor and 27.9 percent from three-point range.

It will be interesting to see what the second half of the season has in store for both Clark and the Fever.
