WNBA legend Lisa Leslie makes feelings known about Caitlin Clark’s ‘impact’ on Fever’s game-changing $78M construction

Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever shocked the world by announcing their plans to open a new top-notch practice facility. The construction, valued at an estimated $78 million, will open its doors before the start of the 2027 season, according to ESPN.

This state-of-the-art facility will reportedly be within walking distance from the Gainbridge Fieldhouse, where the Fever play their home games.

The 108,000-square-foot building will reportedly be tailor-made to better suit the needs of female athletes. It will include two regulation-sized courts, a private outdoor courtyard, a full-service kitchen and a spa-like retreat.

WNBA legend Lisa Leslie took to Instagram to praise Clark for the impact she’s had in the league already.

“Wow!! The impact of @caitlinclark22 has really been a game changer!! Love ❤️it!!” Leslie wrote on the post.

The Fever will be the fifth team to have their own performance center in the WNBA.

The Phoenix Mercury, Seattle Storm and Las Vegas Aces already have one, whereas the Chicago Sky is currently constructing their own.

This will only translate into a better experience for the players and their development.

Clark turned the Fever into must-watch television in her maiden season in the league, and with a newly-found influx of money, it’s only right that the team decides to do something for her athletes.

Indiana Fever to keep one of Caitlin Clark’s key teammates

The Fever closed last season on a high note, and they will look to get even better in Clark’s second year in the league.

That’s why they know they cannot afford to lose Kelsey Mitchell in free agency. Team president Kelly Krauskopf talked about how keeping Mitchell was a priority for them.

“I don’t think that there’s another team that she could go to that would maximize her skill set better. I mean, she had her best year in a backcourt with Caitlin Clark, and I think they were probably the most dynamic duo,” Krauskopf told IndyStar on January 9.

Clark had a rookie season for the ages, and she will most likely be an MVP candidate in 2025. Still, this is a team sport, and the Fever must make sure to keep and add more talent around her.
