The WNBA has grown a lot in the last few years, with a lot of credit for that going to Caitlin Clark. And while she deserves her flowers for being a huge draw, other superstars have enjoyed more success. A’ja Wilson is the biggest example, and her off-court rivalry with the Indiana Fever star has seemingly taken a new turn.
Wilson was named MVP in the 2025 season, the fourth time she’s won it. She also led the Las Vegas Aces to the championship, her third at the professional level. The success has led to increased recognition for Wilson, who was named Time magazine’s Athlete Of The Year.

During the interview, Wilson was asked if all the attention that went to Clark was an issue for her. The Aces star’s answer was extremely frank.
“It wasn’t a hit at me, because I’m going to do me regardless,” Wilson told Time. “I’m going to win this MVP, I’ll win a gold medal, y’all can’t shake my résumé. It was more so, let’s not lose the recipe.
“Let’s not lose the history. It was erased for a minute. And I don’t like that. Because we have tons of women that have been through the grimiest of grimy things to get the league where it is today.”
This is far from a direct shot, and Wilson has also been free with her praise for Caitlin in the past. Women’s basketball is growing rapidly, and all the superstars are major contributors to making it happen. It would be great to see this rivalry on the court, though, so hopefully, Clark can stay healthy moving forward.
