Former Las Vegas Aces assistant Tyler Marsh is now the head coach of the Chicago Sky after Teresa Weatherspoon was removed following the 2024 WNBA season.
During his introductory press conference on Tuesday, Marsh discussed his offseason and season plans. Chicago Sky GM Jeff Pagliocca, along with players Elizabeth Williams, Michaela Onyenwere, Rachel Banham, and Moriah Jefferson, were present.
One of the main concerns for the Sky is the long-term development of Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso, who were both part of a notable draft class. Reese had an impressive debut season, setting records for double-doubles and rebounds, while Cardoso showed consistency despite injuries.
Marsh has high hopes for the team, particularly for Reese and Cardoso, stating:
It’s not just about player development, but also about time spent in the film room. We want Kamilla and Angel to excel in their current skills while also finding ways for them to improve offensively and defensively.
Reese is known for scoring in the paint and grabbing rebounds, while Cardoso is strong on the boards and efficient in scoring opportunities. Marsh is focused on improving the team’s shooting statistics, as they ranked low in field goal percentage, 3-point percentage, and points per game in the 2024 season.
With a background in player development, Marsh aims to enhance the Sky’s shooting abilities. He previously worked with the Aces and was instrumental in developing players like A’ja Wilson, who won the WNBA MVP multiple times. His experience includes coaching roles with the Raptors and Pacers in the NBA.
