The Chicago Sky had their two-game winning streak snapped on Saturday against the Indiana Fever, dropping them to a 2-5 record during the 2025 WNBA season.

After losing 93 to 58 to the Fever on opening day, the Sky fell once again, this time by a score of 79 to 52. Despite Indiana’s 79 points being the fewest that Chicago has given up all season, the Sky’s 52 points on Saturday were the franchise’s lowest since 2011 (via CHGO Sky).
No player scored in double figures for the Sky in the loss, but both Kamilla Cardoso and Rebecca Allen had eight points. Hailey Van Lith and Elizabeth Williams each added seven.

On Sunday, the Sky announced that 15-year veteran guard Courtney Vandersloot would undergo surgery on a torn ACL, causing her to miss the remainder of the season. She sustained the injury during the first quarter of Saturday’s contest.

The hits kept coming for Chicago, as they reported on Monday that point guard Moriah Jefferson would be out once again for Tuesday’s game against the 8-0 New York Liberty.
“Chicago Sky Status Report for tomorrow’s game against the Liberty,” Sky reporter Karli Bell wrote. “Moriah Jefferson (leg) is OUT.”
Jefferson has played eight WNBA seasons and was traded to the Sky from the Connecticut Sun alongside Rachel Banham last season in a deal that also featured Marina Mabrey. She played 14 games for Chicago in 2024 and averaged 0.9 points and 1.7 assists (via Pro Basketball Reference).
She has yet to play in a contest during the 2025 WNBA season as she has dealt with a leg injury. That stretch will continue as she was ruled out once again for Tuesday’s contest against the defending champion New York Liberty.

Chicago will travel to the Barclays Center for their second matchup of the season against the Liberty. Last month, the Sky fell to New York by a score of 99 to 74.
The Sky will have a chance to remedy this loss and try to earn their third win of the season on Tuesday. Tipoff for this Commissioner’s Cup game is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. EST.
