WNBA players make change to key position in latest CBA counterproposal to league

The Women’s National Basketball Players Association made a change to its revenue share positioning in the latest version of its WNBA collective bargaining agreement, sources confirmed to The Post.

A week after the league shared a counterproposal, the WNBPA officially responded with one of its own Friday.

Players are now demanding a 26 percent share of the league and team gross revenues — down from the WNBPA’s ask of 27.5 percent in the previous proposal.

A source said the WNBPA’s latest proposal is nearly $100 million in reduction on revenue share than its previous request.

The players are still asking for a 2026 salary cap of around $9.5 million — about $3.85 million more than the WNBA’s most recent offer.

Players also made some adjustments to the criteria for who is not entitled to housing in later years of the CBA.

The WNBA offered to provide team housing for all players in 2026.

Starting in 2027, though, team-funded housing will only be offered to select groups of players — specifically those who are developmental players, first-year players or those on minimum contracts.

The WNBPA’s response comes on the heels of Monday’s meeting, during which league officials said March 10 is the last day the two sides could agree to a term sheet before the 2026 season would have to be delayed.

The WNBA still has to hold a two-team expansion draft, free agency and a college draft, with training camps scheduled to open on April 19 and the season set to start May 8.
