When the Indiana Fever entered Tuesday’s game against the Connecticut Sun, they needed two things to go their way in order to make it to the Commissioner’s Cup championship. First, they had to win against their opponents, and second, they needed the New York Liberty to take down the Atlanta Dream on the same day.

When the Liberty fell behind by as many as 17 points to the Dream, it looked like Atlanta was the one heading to the championship game. However, after New York pulled off an epic comeback and took the 86-81 win, it set the stage for Indiana’s title berth.

The Fever didn’t disappoint against the Sun despite a heated matchup, blowing out their opponents 88-71 to clinch their ticket to the Commissioner’s Cup championship.

The WNBA confirmed the development in a post following the two games on Tuesday.

“CLINCHED,” the WNBA wrote. “With their win against the Connecticut Sun, the @indianafever have clinched a spot in the 2025 Commissioner’s Cup Championship game presented by @coinbase.”

Caitlin Clark had another solid game for the Fever, finishing with 20 points, six assists and two steals. She led the team in scoring, shooting 50% from the field and going 4-of-6 from deep.

Natasha Howard was also sensational, as she recorded a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Tina Charles scored 20 points for the Sun, but they simply had no answer for Indiana’s hot shooting. The Fever made 11 out of their 26 attempts from deep. Not to mention that they also dominated the rebounding battle, 38-27.

The Fever will compete for the Commissioner’s Cup title against the Minnesota Lynx on July 1.
